“Real Estate Is Local” cannot ring more true than in current market conditions.  Working with a Realtor® who lives in and works in your community has the most personal and comprehensive knowledge about neighborhoods, properties, the current market, more exposure to competing properties, understanding local customs and market trends in your community.

Every Realtor® Is Unique

There are many brokerage firms and Realtors® from whom to choose.  Find the Realtor® you are most comfortable with and entrust they will represent your best interests at all times.  Note that Realtors® work as independent contractors and each provides different levels of service ….even within the same brokerage firm.

Interview Tips for Buyers & Sellers

Besides personal interviews, seek buyer agents with buyer agency designations such as ABR® Accredited Buyer Representative or CBR® Certified Buyer Representative.  These certifications signify the Realtor® invested in education about responsibilities of buyer agency and provided satisfied clients as references in order to achieve the designation requirements.

Sample Interview Questions:

  • Does the Realtor® work full-time or part-time?
  • Are they part of a team, and if so—will they personally be involved in every step?
  • Do they work as a Dual Agent—do they represent both the Buyer & Seller in the same transaction?
  • Are they willing to represent only you as the Buyer – or as the Seller - if you hire them exclusively?
  • How many seller and buyer Clients do they work with at any given time?
  • How many properties do they currently have listed on the market for sale; or how many Buyer clients are they currently representing?
  • What services are included in their commission and what services are at additional cost?
  • How often will updated market statistics be provided during the term of your contract?
  • Do their services include taking you to properties for private showings?
  • Will they attend the home inspection and help you personally through every step?
  • Do they offer proven negotiation strategies throughout the sale cycle?
  • Do they guarantee your satisfaction?

Before formally hiring a Realtor®, discuss what level of service you expect to receive to ensure they will meet your needs!
